Floral Narrow Garden, Twickenham

My clients had a long very narrow, dull space. They were desperate to introduce colour and interest into the garden and give the perception of width. The design divided garden into 3 separate ‘rooms’. The first had different levels of raised borders. A raised planter was built across the garden to create a room and give the illusion of width. The second room had ground level borders with a built-in bench, and under-planted with shade loving plants. A contemporary pergola was placed at the boundary of the second and third rooms. The pergola was planted with roses and clematis, and included an engraved rustic swing for children and adults. The third room was a child’s play area, with artificial grass to enable slides, sandpits and contain any mess.
